  1. Is the CEO built for this hold, or the last one?
  2. Can the CFO manage cash flow weekly?
  3. Which seats must change in the first 100 days?
  4. Who is the named successor for each key seat?
  5. Does the CHRO own a piece of the value plan?

Test the team before you write the 100 day plan.

The Signal

BDO's 2026 Private Equity Survey, in a manufacturing spotlight published October 27, 2026, looked at 141 PE firms that invest in the sector. Forty-seven percent named finding and retaining the right people as their primary limit on executing deals at speed, ahead of competition for assets at 36%.

The value creation plan points the same way. Cash flow management was the top lever, chosen by 31%. That is a CFO assignment before it is anything else.

Deals lose months when the leadership assessment starts after the close. By then the 100 day plan is already written around executives no one has tested against it.
